The “Icons Unveiled” series combines contemporary portraiture with imagery drawn from pop culture, comics, and modern mythology. Familiar female figures appear outside their usual representations—vulnerable yet self-assured, suspended between fantasy, sensuality, and classical beauty.

Restrained color palettes, visible drawing structures, and painterly surfaces give the works the character of aged studies on paper. Bold accents meet muted greys, earthy shades, and natural skin tones, creating a deliberate tension between nostalgia and the present.

The series explores the boundary between heroine and human, mask and identity, public image and private moment. Familiar visual symbols are reinterpreted and transformed into intimate and unexpected portraits.

Her constant search for new techniques and means of expression made it almost imperative for her to now also deal with spatial structures as a sculptor. However, in all of her works, Wildfang does not seek the perfect, symmetrically idealized work, but finds instead finds beauty in the fragmented, in the detail, and in the enigmatic. Her way of working is to find perfection in the imperfect.
