Obv: لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له / بسم الله ضرب هذا الدرهم بـ[دار الضرب] سنة [التاريخ]. “There is no deity except Allah alone; He has no partner / In the name of Allah, this dirham was struck at [mint] in the year [date].”
Rev: Kufic inscription محمد / رسول / الله (“Muhammad is the Messenger of God”) in three lines; around, Qur’an 9:33 proclaiming Muhammad’s mission with guidance and the religion of truth, to prevail over all religion.

Caliph al-Mansur (754-775 AD), the second Abbasid caliph, was the true architect of Abbasid power, consolidating the dynasty's rule and founding Baghdad (Madinat al-Salam) in 762 AD as his new capital. A shrewd and frugal administrator, he crushed internal revolts, built a centralized bureaucracy, and left a full treasury that underpinned the empire's golden age.
