Vase - Large Antique French / European Porcelain Vase - Winged Dragon/Griffin Handles - 51 cm - Porcelain

A striking, large antique porcelain vase of baluster form, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century (c. 1890–1910). This impressive, monumental piece showcases the exceptional craftsmanship characteristic of European porcelain from the Historicist or early Art Nouveau eras; stylistically, it closely resembles the output of the "Vieux Paris" (Old Paris) or "Royal Vienna" manufactories. The vase features a rich, glossy burgundy (or "oxblood") ground, adorned with finely hand-painted floral garlands of roses and morning glories. The central decorative element is a large, rectangular, gold-framed medallion depicting a delicate romantic scene: children set against a picturesque park landscape. The piece is given particular distinction by its striking, sculptural twin handles—masterfully crafted as gilded, winged mythical creatures (dragons, griffins, or chimeras) that merge seamlessly into the body of the vase. The base bears an engraved factory model number ("1909") and an impressed maker's mark. Photos are part of the description. This item will be carefully packed, with lots of protective material and in a sturdy shipping box. Shipping with insurance and tracking code.
