Item Description:
For auction a splendid and decorative pair of vintage wall mirrors, a perfect example of Italian classical taste from the mid-20th century, inspired by the sinuous forms of Baroque Revival and Rococo (Venetian or Florentine).

Details of the workmanship:
As shown in the photographs, the frames are finely shaped and made of carved wood. The upper crest and the base are enriched with elegant motifs of volutes, shells and acanthus leaves, which give movement and lightness to the structure.
Particularly fascinating is the original painted finish: a poly-chrome lacquer skillfully antiqued, playing on delicate shades of pale sage green and ivory (with an effect that almost resembles fake marble or scagliola), enriched by gold and silver highlights on the edges and relief decorations.

The crystals:
The mounted mirrors feature characteristic and charming bloom-like speckles (the classic dark blotches visible in the photos), a detail highly sought after by vintage purists as it testifies to the authenticity and age of the crystals, imparting a romantic and lived-in charm that modern mirrors do not possess.
