Iconic movie poster of the film in Italian: La Mala Educación.

*La mala educación* is a 2004 Spanish film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar and starring Gael García Bernal, Fele Martínez, and Daniel Giménez Cacho. Set in Madrid in 1980, it tells the story of a successful film director, Enrique Goded, and his reunion with his former schoolmate, Ignacio Rodríguez.
The film premiered on March 19, 2004, in Spain and on September 10 of the same year in Mexico. It was screened at many international film festivals, including Cannes, New York, Moscow, and Toronto, before its U.S. release on November 19, 2004.

The film received excellent reviews and was seen as a return for Almodóvar to his “dark period,” placing it alongside films such as *Matador* and *The Law of Desire*. In addition, the film’s strong auteur style was highlighted.

Pedro Almodóvar Caballero (Calzada de Calatrava, 25 September 1949) is a Spanish film director, screenwriter and producer who has achieved greater recognition and acclaim outside Spain in recent decades than any filmmaker since Luis Buñuel.
