Description from the seller
Wall Clock Italian circa 1960–1980 – Bronze – Movement West Germany – Baroque Rococo Style
Elegant and scenographic vintage wall clock of Italian manufacture, datable roughly between the 1960s and 1980s, realized in a Baroque and Rococo style, with evident references to the great ornamental European clocks of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The case, marked on the back “BREV. ITALY”, features rich bronze workmanship, characterized by elaborate relief decorations with roses, flowers, leaves, scrolls and vegetal motifs. The surface preserves a beautiful browned patina, which gives the clock an antique and particularly decorative appearance.
The dial, adorned with floral decorations, features Roman numerals and characteristic shaped hands, in harmony with the classical layout of the entire clock.
Particularly interesting is the pairing between the Italian manufacture of the case and the mechanical movement of West German production, marked “West Germany”, a feature that allows placing the piece in the context of European production in the second half of the twentieth century.
The model reinterprets the tradition of the old French cartel clocks and Rococo clocks, adapting it to the taste of Italian furniture of the period.
An object with great presence and decorative charm, suitable for living rooms, studies, entrances, classical interiors and vintage clock collections.
