AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
A very clean, perfectly preserved and incredibly diverse international collection of postage stamps and luxury souvenir editions, housed in the red binder “GlobeTrotter Briefmarken.” The collection covers issues from the 1950s–1980s with a very rich thematic scope. Main highlights of the collection:
French Philatelic Documents (Premium - 4 pieces): Four original, luxury Document Philatélique Officiel cards issued by the French post in 1983–1984. All in cabinet grade, containing biographical/historical texts, pristine stamps, and original First Day of Issue cancellations (Premier Jour). In the set:
André Masson (La Pythie, Paris 1984) – complete with a full, pristine sheet of 20 stamps!
Raphaël Santi (500th anniversary of the Renaissance master, Paris 1983).
Flore et Faune de France – Aster (Flower series, Pyrenees? Actually “montane flowers series,” Toulouse 1983).
National Philatelic Congress in Marseille (Old Port, Marseille 1983).
People’s Republic of China (PRC): Rarer on the European market pristine sheets and series from the mid-century period, including sports motifs (gymnastics, cycling), All-China Congress of Representatives, and military propaganda (shown on original Japanese collector sheets).
Japan (Nippon): Extremely visually appealing issues, including complete pristine sheets, New Year blocks (Showa era), traditional Kabuki and Noh theatre, Buddhist statues, and an impressive block from the opening of the Great Seto Bridge (1988).
USSR and Space: Strong space philately section, including sheets with the Voskhod 1 crew (1964), Alexei Leonov’s spacewalk (1965) and commemorative blocks (Sputnik, Luna).
Germany (Deutsche Bundespost): Good representation from the 1970s and 1980s, including blocks from the series “Presidents of the Federal Republic” and the popular youth series “Für die Jugend” (motorcycles and vintage cars).
Romania and the World: A wide range of stamps with popular themes (mostly cancelled), covering flora, fauna (cats, butterflies, birds), art, architecture, and sport. Additionally, individual stamps from the USA (airmail), Kuwait, Bahrain, and Thailand.
