English late‑19th‑century settee with fine marquetry in various woods and pink and red fabric upholstery.
Description from the seller
Elegant late 19th-century English settee, finely inlaid with a refined marquetry crafted from several species of precious wood. The frame features light, harmonious lines, enhanced by delicate fillets that precisely trace the furniture's profiles.
The carved mullioned backrest is particularly sought after, divided into three sculpted vertical elements, of which the two outer ones feature elegant decorative inlays with floral and stylized motifs. Additional inlays adorn the upper part of the backrest, creating a pleasant chromatic contrast between the different woods. The arms, slightly curved and shaped, harmoniously accompany the frame down to the legs.
The wide, padded seat is upholstered in fabric in shades of pink and red, decorated with multicolored floral motifs and vegetal ornaments. The tapered front legs and the slightly curved rear legs complete the elegant profile of the piece. A refined example of late Victorian English furniture, ideal for lounges, entrances, bedrooms, or rooms furnished with antique pieces.

Width: 108 cm
