Description from the seller
Pair of Provençal carved wooden chairs with woven seat – France – circa 1960-1980
Elegant pair of traditional French wooden chairs, featuring a lovely decorative work inspired by Provençal and provincial Louis XV.
The high backs are composed of three serpentine rails, the top rail adorned in its center with a carved floral motif. The front legs are slightly curved and the lively lines of the wood bring a lot of charm to the whole.
The seats are made of straw / vegetal fibers woven, with a beautiful geometric weave converging toward the center.
The weaving appears well preserved in the photographs.
The structure is likely made of beech solid wood stained honey color, a wood frequently used in French regional furniture of this period.
The chairs are sturdy and display a beautiful patina.
