The original Sony Walkman TPS-L2 from 1979. This is the very first Walkman model worldwide, which revolutionized music enjoyment forever and is extremely sought after today by collectors and pop culture fans (known from Guardians of the Galaxy).
What’s included:
* Original Sony Walkman TPS-L2
* Original blue Sony protective pouch (soft case) with belt clip – also in nice condition and perfect for the iconic Star-Lord / Guardians of the Galaxy cosplay.
Technical function & condition:
* Fully functional: The device has been tested and runs flawlessly. Playback is stable and crackle-free, and fast forward/rewind works powerfully as well. Since I do not know the service history, I don’t know whether the belts have been replaced – the mechanism currently advances without issues.
* No battery damage: The battery compartment is completely dry, clean, and free of the dreaded battery acid corrosion. The contacts are in excellent condition (see close-up photos). The foil sleeve for removing the batteries shows age-related discoloration but fully serves its purpose.
* Serial number: 256433
Appearance & special note:
* Case: Very well-kept, honest condition with slight, age-appropriate signs of use (small scratches and minimal wear on the edges, see photos). For a device over 40 years old in original paint, an absolute head-turner.
* Important note about the hinge: On the left side of the cassette cover, the small guide pin on the hinge is missing (see close-up photo). The cover can still be opened and closed without issues and stays secure in operation; the function is not affected. I am explicitly mentioning this for collector transparency.
