A very beautiful and rare Victorian money chest or strongbox made of heavy cast iron, manufactured in England towards the end of the 19th century.
This imposing safe is crafted in richly decorated cast iron with fine relief work in the form of leaf and vine motifs on the top and all visible sides. On the lid the name CANNON is cast, a well-known English manufacturer of safes and money chests from the Victorian period.
The safe is equipped with the original brass turning knob, original locking mechanism and the accompanying key. Lock and key function properly. Heavy cast-iron handles are located on both sides.
