Description from the seller
IN RISALTO:
• Registered with ASI and equipped with a certification of historical significance
• 1973 model with Bertone-bodied bodywork and removable hardtop (Targa)
• Engine modified to 1,500 cc powered by a dual Weber carburetor
• Fitted with RG Design Made in Italy alloy wheels and new tires
STORIA/PANORAMICA:
The Fiat X1/9, conceived on the futuristic design signed by Marcello Gandini for Carrozzeria Bertone and introduced in 1972, represents one of the most iconic mid‑engine, rear‑mid Targa sports cars in Italian motoring. Characterized by balanced weight distribution, pop‑up headlights and the removable hardtop stowed in the front luggage compartment, it combines distinctive style with pronounced dynamic performance. This 1973 example, belonging to the first series, is ASI‑registered and has been stored indoors in a covered showroom over the years.
CARROZZERIA/VERNICIATURA:
The bodywork is in generally good condition, having undergone a repaint restoration in 1998 and subsequently kept indoors. All exterior parts are consistent with the model. The seals, glass and the removable hardtop are original to the period. The car is fitted with RG Design Made in Italy alloy wheels paired with new tires.
INTERNI:
The cabin preserves the original Bertone interiors without damage. It should be noted only the absence of the radio receiver on the dashboard (radio missing).
MECCANICA:
The mechanical side features an engine with an indicated original mileage of only 7,990 km. The original displacement of 1,300 cc was later modified to 1,500 cc with the adoption of a twin Weber carburetor. Following the mechanical work, the car has been used exclusively for historic car rallies. The seller states the mechanicals are in excellent working order.
DOCUMENTI:
The vehicle is equipped with an ASI certificate of registration (Automotoclub Storico Italiano).

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
