Sputnik / Atomic' Space Age fruit bowl – 1960s/70s

'Sputnik' or 'Atomic' fruit bowl from the Space Age era (the 60s/70s).

It is a playful mid-century modern design object made of chromed wire and finished with colorful plastic balls at the ends.

Thanks to its striking, sculptural design that evokes an exploding star or a satellite, this type of bowl is used both functionally and purely decoratively in eclectic interiors

Dimensions
Diameter 38cm
Height 12cm

The fruit bowl is structurally fully intact and all the balls are present. The chrome work on the inside and around the central solder points shows signs of age and use, including light oxidation (flash rust) and wear of the chrome layer (see detail photos). This gives the object its authentic vintage character.

Sputnik / Atomic' Space Age fruitmand – Jaren 60/70
