Rug - 266 cm - 154 cm - SUPER BUKHARA RUSSO

Old Bukharan rug, handcrafted entirely by hand with soft, high-quality wool, measuring 266 cm by 154 cm (4.096 m2), in good condition as shown in the photo and professionally washed. The designation “Russo” derives from the fact that Central Asian regions such as Uzbekistan and the related Turkmen tribes were part of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. The rug repeats the most iconic design, called GUL or elephant’s foot, in the form of a geometric medallion that repeats across the rug’s field but with a lighter base color—bright beige—more versatile than the traditional red. These rugs have a long tradition, and the original pieces from the Turkmen/Uzbek area remain the most sought after by collectors. Knot density is about 350,000 per m2 (see photo).
