Antique miniature salt box (a reduced model of a rustic bench-chest), crafted in solid wood with a natural dark patina. The piece features a cut-out backrest with geometric inlays and a central raised brass applique, patinated, depicting the bust of a woman wearing the headdress and traditional dress of Normandy, accompanied by the inscription "NORMANDIE". On the upper shelf, it displays the hand-carved inscription "La Délivrande", a direct reference to the famous commune and pilgrimage site of Douvres-la-Délivrande, in the Calvados region. The base is decorated with diamond-shaped inlays. Includes two original side metal rods.
Late 19th century or first half of the 20th century (c. 1890 – 1940). This is a piece produced as a memento of pilgrimage or regional tourism of the period.
Good overall condition, showing signs of use due to age, small wear to the wood, and natural oxidation on the metal elements that give it authenticity and an excellent patina.
