Massive – Vintage Space Age ‘Bug Eye’ / UFO ceiling lamp – Belgium – 1970s
Special and characterful Space Age ‘Bug Eye’ ceiling lamp, produced in the 1970s by the Belgian brand Massive.
This striking ceiling lamp is finished in yellow and smoked plastic and is often referred to as a ‘Bug Eye’ or UFO lamp due to its futuristic design. The large shade with organically shaped smoked light facets gives the lamp the instantly recognizable look of Space Age design from the seventies.
When the lamp is lit, the smoked facets glow atmospherically. The combination of the bright yellow, the smoked elements, and the shape makes this a true eye-catcher both day and night. A distinctive design object that fits perfectly in a retro, Space Age or Mid-Century interior.
The lamp is in authentic vintage condition, with patina, scratches and signs of use appropriate for its age. There is a crack in the yellow plastic, clearly visible in the detailed photo. It is at the top of the lamp. The signs of wear and damage have deliberately not been repaired, so an honest view of the condition is provided and the original character is preserved.
