Vintage Bug Eye - Space Age pendant by Massive - 1960s-70s.
Produced in the space age during the 1960s-70s, but because of the resemblance it is also commonly called Bug-eye. The form was probably inspired by the Futuro house designed in 1968 by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen.
This pendant lamp in white plastic with transparent panels was made by the Belgian lighting company Massive. Massive was founded in 1926 and originally started as a bronze foundry that produced candles and chandeliers. Years later they specialized in lighting as well, which in the 1970s led to enormous expansion. In the 1980s Massive became one of the leading lighting companies across Europe. In 2008 Philips acquired Massive.
In generally good condition. Windows with small imperfections.
This lamp also comes in other colors (flashy green, orange, blue, brown)
