Pedestal/lectern in carved walnut wood, neo‑Renaissance historicist style, dating to 1850–1900.
Description from the seller
Wooden sculpted lectern / stand – neorenaissance style – late 19th / early 20th century
Elegant antique lectern or stand in dark brown stained wood, resting on a square base and featuring a remarkable turned central shaft with deep twisted helicoidal flutes.
The footwork, alternating turned mouldings, rings and twisted ornament, directly draws inspiration from Renaissance furniture and from historicist productions especially valued at the end of the 19th century.
The upper square top of 30 × 30 cm features a panel construction with moulded frame.
The warm patina of the wood as well as the light signs of use visible are consistent with the age and contribute to the authentic character of the piece.
With its height of 108 cm, this slender piece can be used as a decorative lectern, plant stand, sculpture support, or display column.
