Geida - MERMAID SASHIMI

A woman with mermaid-like features, a warm light illuminates her face, her hair. Her arms bound behind her back. She watches us, looks at us; her eyes speak in a cold and austere universe, the warmth of the character contrasts with the setting. The artist evokes here, through allegory, the place of women in past and present societies. An object of desire, of fantasies, of myth, of consumption, she is represented in the form of a chimera at Méric, in a condemned position. The sticks laid on the ground, oversized, almost phallic in shape, symbolize masculine power, the one who disposes, and who is capable of consuming and leading. GEIDA, is a French artist from the south of France, born in 1982, on the shores of the Côte d’Azur.

Inspired by classical and modern painting, he moves between contemporary works and street art. His creations incorporate emblematic elements of classic and pop culture. His works are characterized by reinterpretations of major painters, warm colors, expressive and bewitching compositions.

GEIDA explores different forms of universes and productions. Some of his works are reproduced in small editions on canvases stretched on frames, thus creating limited editions accessible to a broader public.
