Commemorative 50 Rupees coin minted in 1979 to highlight the importance of women’s education in rural Nepal. The reverse shows the Nepalese national shield surrounded by legends and traditional symbolic elements, reflecting the identity of the Kingdom of Nepal under the reign of Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The striking presents a clean, well-balanced style, with sharp relief and excellent definition in all details. The surfaces retain abundant original mint luster, with bright fields and only small contact marks from handling after striking, fully consistent with the MS66 grade. This issue constitutes an interesting testimony to the social development campaigns promoted in Nepal during the latter half of the 20th century, when education and literacy became priority goals for the country’s progress.
