Description from the seller
The stoneware teapot, model OP, designed by Ole Palsby for Arabia in 1989. Ole Palsby for Arabia – OP teapot – Finland
This distinctive Scandinavian design teapot from the OP series, designed by Danish industrial designer Ole Palsby (1935–2010) for the renowned Finnish Arabia. The model dates from 1989.
The OP teapot is a fine example of Palsby’s functional and minimalist design approach. The bold, rounded form is executed in glazed stoneware and is paired with a sleek metal bail handle. The short pouring spout forms almost one unit with the body, giving the teapot a particularly pure and sculptural silhouette.
What characterizes it is the contrast between the soft geometry of the ceramic and the industrial look of the metal handle. This makes the teapot not only a functional object but also an attractive design piece for a modern, Scandinavian or minimalist interior.
The OP model is also documented in relation to NordForm 90, the Scandinavian design exhibition from 1990.
The teapot has a capacity of about 1.2 liters.
Dimensions: H 19 cm x L 20 cm x W 17 cm
Weight: 1107 grams
The condition is good vintage and in accordance with the photos. Please examine the photos carefully; they form an important part of the description.
A characteristic and now somewhat harder-to-find Arabia design from the late eighties, in which Danish design and Finnish ceramic tradition come together beautifully.
