Pocket watch in a silver case with a manual-winding movement, circa 1850–1900, reference 17432, case diameter 50 mm, weight 50 g, condition discreet with notable wear, in working order.
Description from the seller
It's an English silver pocket watch, with a white enamel dial, Roman numerals and small seconds at six o'clock. I would say late 19th / early 20th century.
The photo of the hallmarks is the decisive one. I see the passant lion, which identifies English sterling silver 925/1000. The other hallmarks serve to identify the assay office, year, and the case head; in watch cases the shape of the escutcheons can differ from the normal hallmark tables.
I also see the case number 17432 and the oval mark “RG”. However, I would not yet attribute RG to a specific manufacturer without comparing the original mark: the sponsor’s mark can indicate the case maker, the retailer, or the person who presented it for assay, not necessarily the movement maker.
The case is interesting: the back cover with guilloché work and a central cartouche, while the dial seems fairly well preserved.
