Val Saint Lambert Borodine coupe on a solid square foot, crafted in clear and green double crystal with a gilded frieze depicting a Chinese procession, dating to the late 1960s to early 1970s, with height 22 cm and diameter 28 cm, bearing the hand-engraved “Val St Lambert” signature and the original gold factory label, in excellent condition.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Special and rare Val Saint Lambert coupe on a foot, Borodine model, executed in clear and green double crystal and equipped with a refined gilded frieze featuring an East Asian/Chinese procession.

The decorative scene surrounds an extensive ceremonial tableau, including riders, figures in traditional garments, parasols, bearers, and ceremonial scenes. This edition clearly differs from the much more common Borodine with the well-known “Danse de Flore” decor.

In Belgian auction documentation, separate Borodine “Cortège” models appear, adorned with gold decoration, alongside the Borodine Danse de Flore. Other Val Saint Lambert objects from the same period are also known with a so-called frise à décor chinois.

The coupe is crafted from heavy Val Saint Lambert crystal with a green colored double layer. The underside of the bowl and the solid square foot are richly faceted and hand-cut, causing the crystal to refract light strongly. The broad satinized frieze forms a striking contrast with the transparent green and clear crystal.

The Borodine form appears in the Val Saint Lambert production from the second half of the 1960s. Based on the model, the finish, and comparable Val Saint Lambert objects with Chinese gold decor, this piece can probably be dated to the late 1960s to the first half of the 1970s.

Under the foot is the hand-engraved signature:
“Val St Lambert”

Additionally, the original gold-colored Val St Lambert – Cristal Belgium – Déposé factory label is still present, which is an attractive additional detail for collectors.

Dimensions
- Height: approx. 22 cm
- Diameter: approx. 28 cm
- Foot: solid, square-cut crystal

Condition
The gilded figurative frieze is particularly well preserved. The original factory label is still present. See the detail photos for the exact condition; these form an integral part of the description.
A particularly decorative and collectible piece of Belgian crystal, especially due to the combination of the Borodine model, the green double crystal, and the much less commonly offered Cortège/Chinese gold frieze.

Will be packed very carefully and securely for shipping."
