Description from the seller

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Executed in a striking 1980s color scheme with gold-, copper-, and brown-toned striping
• Rare original factory-fitted steel sliding roof
• Equipped with comfortable Captain Seats at the front and a refreshed interior
• Rustic 1.6 TD JX turbodiesel engine paired with a manual 5-speed transmission
• Featuring plastic spoiler and body cladding in Carat style

HISTORY & OVERVIEW:

The Volkswagen T3, the third generation of the legendary Transporter, introduced a boxier design and a roomier cabin while preserving the proven rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. The luxurious Caravelle version was aimed at passenger transport with extra comfort and equipment. This specific example has a first-registration date of June 15, 1984 and combines classic early T3 characteristics with a distinctly pronounced 1980s appearance. The bus is registered in Belgium and is currently located in Enter, Netherlands.

BODYWORK & PAINT:

The body is finished in white and is in solid, sturdy condition. The sides feature a characteristic 1980s stripe in gold, copper, and brown tones. Around the bus are equipped with plastic spoiler and body cladding in Carat style, including lower front and side cladding. In keeping with the age of over forty years there are light signs of age and use as well as some cosmetic imperfections in the paint. A notable plus is the original factory steel sunroof.

INTERIOR:

The interior has been reupholstered, giving it a fresh and well-kept look. At the front the vehicle sits in comfortable Captain Seats with armrests. The entire interior complements the white exterior color and the classic styling.

ENGINE & TECHNICAL:

At the rear lies the well-known 1.6-liter JX four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with a power output of around 70 hp (51 kW) and 138 Nm of torque. The water-cooled engine is paired with a manual five-speed transmission that drives the rear wheels.

DOCUMENTS:

The vehicle is provided with Belgian registration documents.

The vehicle can be viewed and picked up in Enter, Netherlands. Bids are exclusive of transport and export, unless otherwise stated. Arranging transport, transfer of ownership and any registration/export documents is the responsibility of the buyer.

Note for Dutch buyers: This bus has Belgian registration and may have restrictions for admission on Dutch roads. Buyers should independently verify the conditions for import and registration in their country in advance.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
