Description from the seller
Vintage C. Baker London monocular microscope in an original wooden box – including 2 eyepieces – untested
A characteristic and rugged vintage monocular microscope from the renowned British manufacturer C. Baker (London).
This type of microscope was widely used in laboratories and universities in the mid-20th century due to its reliable optical and mechanical quality.
The instrument has a handsome industrial appearance with its characteristic gray/black finish and solid cast-iron foot. On the tube sits the original authentic brand emblem of C. Baker London.
Included with this lot:
• The microscope: Equipped with a revolving nosepiece for multiple objectives.
• Storage case: The original, custom-made wooden transport and storage case with a handle.
• Optics: Supplied including 2 separate eyepieces (lenses).
• Illumination: Including the accompanying vintage power cable/lighting unit.
Condition and technical status:
• Mechanical: The coarse and fine focus (the rotation mechanism) moves as it should.
• Electrical / Optical: The microscope is untested. Due to the age of the wiring, the illumination is not connected to mains (12 volt ?) or checked for operation. The lenses are visually in neat condition, but have not been microscopically cleaned or thoroughly checked.
• Cosmetic: In good, used vintage condition with normal aging and signs of use on both the microscope and the wooden box (see photos for an accurate impression).
A beautiful and decorative object for collectors of antique and scientific instruments, or as a unique display piece in an industrial interior.
Please look closely at the photos, as they form part of the description.
The lot is packed with great care and shipped with track & trace.
