Honoré Pons Imperial bronze table clock, Paris, with mechanical eight-day movement, bell-striking on the half hour, silvered dial signed Lebel Paris, circa 1800–1850; in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Honoré Pons – Mantel clock, Empire style, in gilt bronze – 19th century.
Important French mantel clock in gilt bronze, Empire style, first half of the 19th century, with movement stamped Pons and dial signed Lebel, Rue St-Martin 60, Paris.
A specimen of remarkable decorative presence, characterized by a rich gilt-bronze case with garlands, floral motifs, rosettes and Neoclassical applications. The ornamental top vase completes a particularly elegant and scenographic composition.
The silvered dial, finely engraved and with Roman numerals, bears the signature Lebel, Rue St-Martin 60, Paris.
The mechanical movement bears the mark Pons and the reference 1821, clearly visible and documented in the photographs. Pendulum movement with a winding reserve of about 8 days and hour and half-hour striking on a bell.
The clock is regularly functioning: runs correctly and the striking is operable. Key present.
The specimen presents in excellent overall condition considering its age, with normal signs of wear and a pleasant antique patina, compatible with an object about two centuries old. The gilding preserves a good overall appearance and the decorations are well defined.
There are numerous detailed photographs of the case, the dial, the movement, the Pons mark and the internal components, which constitute an integral part of the description.
