Description from the seller
Golden 800 silver liturgical chalice – Aldo Zucchi, Milan – 1960s
Elegant Italian liturgical chalice, cup in 800 silver, body in brass, entirely gold-plated, characterized by an essential and refined design typical of ecclesiastical production in the 1960s.
The cup features a flared shape, perfectly balanced with a wide circular foot with a slightly stepped profile. The stem, with clean and modern lines, is embellished with a honey-colored translucent knot, an element that creates a pleasant contrast with the gold surface of the metal.
On the rim of the cup the mark “800” and the punch of the silversmith 682 MI are clearly visible, referring to the Milanese manufactory of Aldo Zucchi, active in the second half of the 20th century. The piece can be roughly dated to the period 1963–1968.
The surface retains a beautiful bright gilding, with light traces and micro-scratches compatible with age and use, well documented by the photographs. Overall the chalice is in excellent conservational condition, with a particularly elegant and sober line.
Dimensions: height about 18 cm; cup diameter 9.3 cm; foot diameter 12.3 cm.
Material: silver fineness 800/1000, gilded, brass body.
Punzonatura: “800” and 682 MI – Aldo Zucchi, Milan.
Era: circa 1963–1968.
An interesting example of Italian sacred goldsmithing of the 20th century, suitable both for a collection of ecclesiastical silverware and as a refined decorative object.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and accurately show the condition, marks and details of the object. The item will be carefully packaged with professional materials appropriate to its nature and fragility.
