Eliane LARUS (born in 1944)

The mosquitoes

Watercolor and Chinese ink on paper

Signed at the bottom right and titled on the back

Dimensions: 26.5 x 22 cm

——————

Eliane Larus is a French artist, painter, sculptor and visual artist. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Tours in 1967 and then from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1969, where she worked in Gustave Singier's studio.

From the 1970s, her discovery of Art brut, notably through Jean Dubuffet, profoundly marked her artistic development. Her work develops a very personal universe, populated by characters, animals and figures with simplified forms, blending poetry, childhood, humor and gravitas. She works notably with painting, cut wood and sculpture.

In 1991 she received the Leonardo da Vinci Prize for the Plastic Arts and for Mexico. Her works are included in several public and private collections.
