Historical significance Talavera pottery is a form of Mexican maiolica, blending Spanish artisanal traditions introduced during colonization with Mexican Indigenous influences. It is protected by a designation.
True Talavera must come from specific regions such as Puebla and comply with strict firing and glazing techniques.
Talavera's classic colors derive from natural pigments, notably cobalt for blue.
Each piece is traditionally hand-painted, which means no two pieces are exactly alike.
