Description from the seller

59 EO
Mirror with a Tabernacle – Antique in Gold Wood and Blue – Renaissance/Neoclassical Style (19th Century)
Splendid and scenographic antique wall mirror (mirror missing), crafted in richly carved, gilded wood and painted in polychromy. The piece echoes the elegant tabernacle (or edicule) architectural form, typical of Italian inlay tradition.

The upper crest features an arched pediment enclosing a finely carved, winged cherub in relief, entirely gilded, crowned by a palmette ornament. The central light is framed by an edicule-like structure with pilasters and lateral lilied columns decorated with flowering scroll motifs.

Beautiful chromatic contrast between the bright gold (gold leaf) and the deep blue background finely painted with floral arabesques. The lower apron has a curved base ending in an elegant shelf decorated with volutes and acanthus leaves.

The piece is in overall good condition, with the original patina of time that enhances its historic charm. It shows slight and normal signs of wear on the gilding and on the painted surface, consistent with the object's age.

Note: The mirror is sold without the internal glass, allowing the option to insert an antique, modern mirror, or a mirrored glass strip according to taste.
