Description from the seller
AIRES 35 II, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Aires 35 II comes from one of the most respected of Japan's smaller camera makers, a Tokyo firm whose rangefinders briefly rivalled the industry giants for build quality before the company closed in 1960. It is a solid die-cast 35mm camera with a coupled rangefinder, a Seikosha-Rapid leaf shutter with speeds up to 1/500 s and a fixed Aires Coral lens. Because Aires production ended so early, its cameras are far less common than contemporary Canonets and Yashicas, and the marque has a devoted collector following in Japan.
Condition: Used — Excellent
Pre-owned, moderate signs of use, optics clear
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Lens: Clear, no haze, fungus or scratches
Rangefinder: Clear double image
Viewfinder: Cleaned inside
Functional
Shutter works; speeds run a little slow (1/50 measured 1/36, 1/500 measured 1/284).
Rangefinder works. Viewfinder cleaned inside.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1 s — measured 1/0.8 s (approx. 0.3 stop slow)
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
Bundled Items
Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
Important Notes for Used Items
As this is a used item, subtle imperfections may exist that are not individually described.
