Leopoldo Metlicovitz - Superator - 1970s

An absolute icon of Italian advertising billboards and the Liberty style (70s reissue). A splendid poster signed by Leopoldo Metlicovitz, one of the undisputed fathers of advertising graphics in Italy alongside Dudovich and Hohenstein. This famous illustration was commissioned by Distillerie Italiane of Milan to promote the "Superator", an innovative domestic stove powered by alcohol gas. The work masterfully captures the refined atmosphere of the early 20th-century upper middle class. With a deft use of light and shadow, Metlicovitz stages domestic intimacy: an elegant gentleman in a tails suit lights the stove, while a woman with copper-red hair watches him in a suggestive and warm gaze, a perfect metaphor for the comfort and well-being promised by the product.
