Description from the seller
German silver basket made by Wilhelm Theodor Binder in Schwäbisch Gmünd, dating from 1917.
The basket is made of 800 silver and retains its original glass insert. The interior is gilded, while the exterior is decorated with raised floral motifs and bands of laurel leaves. Six diamond-shaped panels with floral rosettes are arranged around the body.
The basket stands on four rounded ball feet and has a hinged carrying handle decorated with laurel leaves and three small silver spheres. The handle can be lowered when not in use.
An engraved inscription on the side reads “28 Mai 1892 – 1917”, commemorating a 25th anniversary.
The silver bears German hallmarks, including the crescent and crown, the 800 silver standard and the maker's mark WTB, identifying the workshop of Wilhelm Theodor Binder.
The basket measures 20 cm in diameter and 8.5 cm in height without the handle. Its total height with the handle raised is 21.5 cm.
The documented total weight is 341 grams. The basket is preserved in very good antique condition, with natural signs of age and use.
It comes from a private family collection and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a historical assessment issued by Galeria J in Łódź, Poland.
