Description from the seller
Ernest Patris' unique stoneware jug
Ernest Patris was a fairly prolific Walloon artist who primarily created sculpture and ceramics. He began his career in the 1930s. Ernest Patris (1909-1981) developed a style inspired by Art Nouveau, but often with something macabre, as here with two prominent black child- or angel-heads.
This jug with two faces also refers to his sculpture work in which he realized many heads.
The jug is in pristine condition and has likely served as an ornament rather than a utilitarian object. The material used is stoneware (grès) and shows no kiln faults.
