Description from the seller

SHEPARD FAIREY (OBEY) – MAKE ART NOT WAR

This poster comes from “Beyond the Streets Paris 2026,” a major international event dedicated to graffiti, street art and urban cultures, held at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris.
The work is signed and dated 2026 in pencil by Shepard Fairey, a detail of particular interest to collectors.

This iconic work of contemporary Street Art, where art becomes a powerful symbol of peace and liberty.

With "Make Art Not War", Shepard Fairey, worldwide known under the pseudonym (OBEY), presents a striking composition that blends the aesthetics of propaganda posters, the elegance of Art Nouveau, and the rebellious energy of Street Art.

At the center of this piece, a feminine figure with a serene gaze, surrounded by roses and floral ornaments, irresistibly evokes the famous compositions of Alphonse Mucha, master of Art Nouveau.

The contrast between intense red, deep black, and cream tones gives the whole a remarkable graphic power.

The title "Make Art Not War" ("Make Art, Not War" in French) riffs on the famous 1960s pacifist slogan, "Make Love, Not War," to deliver a universal message: oppose violence and conflicts with creativity, beauty, and culture.

The brushes depicted beneath the portrait become symbols of artistic resistance, reminding us that art can be a weapon of expression and social transformation.

Through this composition, Shepard Fairey places himself in the lineage of great artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Barbara Kruger and Alphonse Mucha, while asserting a graphic identity that is immediately recognizable.

A particularly decorative and meaningful poster, combining Pop Art aesthetics, Street Art engagement, and Art Nouveau refinement.

A beautiful piece for urban art enthusiasts and collectors in the OBEY universe.
