Description from the seller
"Earthquake"
It is not a landscape. It is what remains after.
In this square of earth and gold there is the exact moment of the tremor, frozen.
At the top, the sky. A dusty beige, suspended, still, yet already cracked. Four fragments of gold float like rubble in the air, lifted by the vibration. They are the first second, the moment you understand that something is wrong.
Then the wound arrives.
In the center, a horizontal fault cuts the canvas from edge to edge. It is not painted, it has erupted. A violent buildup of stones, splinters, golden rubble. It is a wall collapsing, a road splitting, the bones of the earth coming to the surface. The gold here is not decoration, it is magma. It is the precious matter the earth spits out when it opens. It is tangible, sharp, it makes noise.
Below, the aftereffect. A sickly green‑gray, pale, like settled dust. The color of silence after the roar. In the lower left, a single isolated fragment, fallen far away. A survivor. And further to the right, almost imperceptible, a small golden trace on the bottom, like one last tremor.
It is a powerful work precisely because it does not shout. It does not show destruction, it shows the trace.
Minimalist like a seismograph, brutal like Burri. It has transformed the catastrophe into balance, the rubble into a relic.
An informal masterpiece on canvas 50x50 cm
The photos are setups to give an example of how it might appear.
