Organic sculptural vase Model 971 in Italian ceramic by Roberto Rigon for Bertoncello, Italy, circa 1968–1972, white crema glaze with a textured finish, dimensions 24 cm wide by 21 cm high by 9.5 cm deep, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Roberto Rigon for Bertoncello - Organic sculptural vase "Model 971" - Italian art ceramics - 1960s/1970s.
Splendid and rare vintage sculptural vase with an iconic organic and asymmetric form, a true icon of Space Age design and mid-century Italian modernism.
Designed by designer Roberto Rigon for the renowned Bertoncello ceramics of Schiavon (Vicenza), this piece stands out for its dynamic, sinuous lines that evoke zoomorphic profiles or the silhouette of a fin or a sail.
The finish features a refined matte glaze in cream/light beige with a tactile, grainy texture, historically called "Sasso Bianco". A circular through hole at the base enhances the three-dimensionality and the play of positive and negative space typical of Bertoncello’s avant-garde production.
The object lends itself magnificently both as a single-flower vase and as a centerpiece decorative sculpture.
