A two‑piece Italian Umbertino study set from circa 1900–1910, in solid walnut wood with leather seating, comprising a central desk with a side tower and a matching leather‑upholstered chair, finished on all sides and suitable for centre‑room placement; dimensions 90 cm high, 79 cm wide, 52 cm deep, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
A precious and complete studio set in the full Italian Umbertine style, dating from the late 1800s (circa 1880-1900), entirely crafted in solid walnut wood with delicate carvings. The lot includes the central writing desk with a turret/side castellated element featuring two drawers, a fretwork panel with turned columns, a subtop drawer, and a four-drawer column, together with its original triform easily coordinated ottoman chair with a black leather seat. The furniture is finished on all four sides, ideal for placement in the center of a room. The drawer fronts display the typical geometric carvings and the mirrored panels of Umbertine carpentry, complete with bronze hardware from the period.
Condition and restoration:
The set is presented in excellent conservative condition thanks to careful maintenance and finishing just carried out (October 2026). A professional termite/woodworm treatment was applied, followed by an impregnating sealer to nourish the walnut fibers and finished with a coat of high-quality natural beeswax that enhances the original eighteenth-century patina. Solid construction and perfectly smooth-running drawers. A high-representation piece ready to be placed in any environment.
