Description from the seller
This exquisite console is a refined example of French craftsmanship in the Louis XVI style, dating from the 20th century. Its elegant half-moon shape is adorned with intricate hand-carved details on the gilded wood frame, including floral motifs, spiral grooves, and braided ribbon edges—all emblematic elements of Neoclassical design.
The console features a marble top with wonderful veining, probably original. The cream and gray white marble surface creates a luxurious contrast with the warm, aged patina of the base. Supported by two elegant, tapered legs, each richly carved with spiral grooves, acanthus leaves, and rosettes, the structure is simultaneously sturdy and decorative.
A contoured crossbar connects the legs for greater stability and visual harmony, culminating in a central carved knob. Despite minor signs of superficial wear consistent with age, the console retains much of its original gilding, contributing to its authentic charm and antique character.
Ideal for a majestic entrance, a formal drawing room, or as a decorative piece beneath a mirror or painting, this Louis XVI-style gilded wood console effortlessly enhances any interior, whether classic or eclectic.
