Porcelain bowl from China in the Guangxu period (1875–1908), yellow-ground famille rose with red and blue dragons, diameter 23 cm, height 9.6 cm, good condition with minor ageing signs.
Description from the seller
A fine Chinese famille rose yellow-ground porcelain bowl, Guangxu mark and period (1875–1908).
The exterior is brightly enamelled on a rich yellow ground with powerful red and blue dragons amongst multicoloured cloud scrolls, flames and flaming pearl motifs. The dragons are particularly finely rendered, with detailed scales, expressive faces and flowing bodies extending around the bowl. The interior is covered in a striking turquoise glaze, providing an attractive contrast to the vibrant yellow exterior.
The base bears a six-character underglaze-blue Guangxu mark, “Da Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi”, and the bowl dates to the period 1875-1908, Qing Dynasty.
Condition
Overall in good antique condition. There is a small nick to the upper rim associated with a fine hairline, together with some minor age-related wear. The turquoise glaze to the interior shows glaze crazing, together with some surface marks and discolouration consistent with age and use. Please study the detailed photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
