Description from the seller
CIJ (Compagnie Industrielle du Jouet) - Renault 4 CV "Sapeurs Pompiers" (firefighters) with key - France
Nice example of the Renault 4CV "Sapeurs Pompiers" (firefighters) manufactured circa 1949–1952 by CIJ.
The model features the inscription "Sapeurs Pompiers" (Firefighters) on both sides and "RENAULT" on the rear engine cover.
This particular unit belongs to the first edition of the Renault 4 CV, characterized by a painted radiator grille with six slats and the absence of taillights; the scale is approximately 1:20.
The front axle can be steered using a small knob on the underside. The item is entirely original.
The Renault 4 CV—nicknamed "4 pattes" ("four legs" or "four paws")—was the first French car truly accessible to the general public and the best-selling car in France from 1947 to 1955.
The "Commercial" version was produced between 1948 and 1952, serving, among others, the French postal and telecommunications authority ("Postes, Télégraphes et Téléphones" – PTT).
The car is in very good condition. The spring-driven mechanism is in a very good working order.
The car features a special stop/go function: the clockwork mechanism stops when the car is lifted and starts again when it is placed back down.
