Description from the seller
Ditmar-Urbach - Large Art Deco Vase with Floral Spiral Decor - Czechoslovakia - Circa 1920/1930
Antique Art Deco stoneware vase, produced by the renowned manufacturer Ditmar-Urbach in Turn-Teplitz (present-day Czech Republic, at the time Czechoslovakia) during the interwar period (ca. 1920-1930).
This vase is an iconic example of the expressive Czechoslovak Art Deco style. The vase features a dynamic, hand-painted decoration of dark green spirals and swirls on a broken white ground. The front and back are decorated with large, contrasting floral motifs (a bright red poppy with a purple heart on one side, and a purple flower with a green heart on the other). The neck and base are finished with a deep, glossy cobalt blue glaze.
Features & Markings:
• Manufacturer: Ditmar-Urbach (Turn-Teplitz)
• Period: Circa 1920 - 1930 (Art Deco)
• Material: Glazed earthenware / majolica
• Markings: The underside is equipped with hand-painted cobalt blue painter/decorator numbers ("9" and "3"). There is also an impressed blind stamp (model number) under the glaze edge, which has become almost illegible due to the thick glaze run – a typical and authentic feature of production from this period.
