Description from the seller
Vintage Ken-A-Vision Microscope Microprojector, USA, 1950s
In excellent tested and working condition – No reserve.
A remarkable vintage large Ken-A-Vision X-1000-1 microscope microprojector, an unusual piece of scientific equipment that combines the precision of a microscope with the ability to project magnified images for educational demonstrations. Manufactured by Ken-A-Vision Manufacturing Inc. in Raytown, Missouri, USA, this distinctive instrument is a fascinating example of mid-century scientific and educational design.
The primary attraction is its fully integrated microscope assembly, featuring optical lenses, an adjustable specimen stage and mechanical focusing controls. Designed for classroom demonstrations, it allowed microscopic specimens on glass slides to be magnified and projected onto a larger surface, making details of cells, microorganisms and other specimens visible to an entire audience.
The adjustable head allows different projection configurations, while the substantial cast-aluminium construction provides excellent stability. Its sculptural, seafoam-green housing, elegant curved support and exposed precision mechanisms give the instrument an unmistakable mid-century modern character.
The instrument is complete and in tested, working condition.
Beyond its original scientific purpose, this rare and visually striking instrument will appeal to collectors of vintage microscopes, optical instruments, medical and scientific antiques, and educational equipment. It is also an outstanding display piece for a study, laboratory-inspired interior or specialist collection.
