Antique silver pocket match holder from Italy, dating to 1800–1850, cylindrical with decorative bands, 5 cm high, 4 cm wide, 2.5 mm deep, weighing 10 g, grey, vintage style, unique object.
Description from the seller
Antique pocket-sized cylindrical match holder dating presumably to the early decades of the 20th century.
The object preserves a particularly interesting element: the original illustrated roll with the inscription “100 Safety Matches,” decorated with references to images and subjects named “Portrait,” “Magdalene,” “Flora” and “Sacred Love.”
The package also bears the inscription “AVERAGE” and a reference to a patent (“PAT”), the number of which is worn and not fully legible.
The cylindrical body features decorative bands worked along the surface, giving the object an elegant appearance characteristic of vintage personal accessories.
Pocket match holders were used to store and transport matches, protecting them during everyday use. Preserving the original illustrated packaging is of interest to collectors of vintage objects, era accessories, and memorabilia related to matches.
Estimated period: circa 1900–1920.
Conditions: antique item with signs of wear and surface patina consistent with age. The original packaging shows traces of time.
An interesting collectible piece, particularly valued for the presence of the original illustrated packaging.
