An antique cast-iron mantel clock in the form of a clockman by J.v.E., German-made with a mechanical, 1-day power-reserve movement, non-striking and in used condition with restoration and missing parts, measuring 38 cm high, 20 cm wide and 12 cm deep (weighing 2.2 kg).
Description from the seller
A very characteristic and rare antique cast-iron pendulum clock in the form of a clock-man figure.
The stately figure is dressed in a classic green coat, blue trousers, and wears a hat.
In his right hand he holds a metal walking stick, while in his left hand a small decorative chain with weights hangs.
On his chest he wears a decorative dial with Roman numerals, floral corner motifs, and an image of a sailing boat with the letters 'JP' in the sail.
At the back the mechanical movement is neatly integrated into the back of the figure.
Condition:
In used, antique condition with restoration and missing parts.
The paint layer is original and shows the age-appropriate, charming wear and patina (crackle/paint loss).
Currently missing a winding key and the pendulum.
Also missing the large hand on the dial (as circled in red on the detail photo).
At the bottom of the dial there is a screw fastener visible where the housing is secured.
The clock should be technically checked and is offered as 'not working / for restoration' due to the absence of parts.
Dimensions:
Height: 38 cm
Width: 20 cm
Depth: 12 cm
