Description from the seller
Antique German wrought iron door key with oval ring and pierced stem - 17th century
Long door key from a German-speaking area in wrought iron, with a simple oval ring, collar with multiple turned rings, and a cylindrical shank with a pierced stem. The bolt, smaller in size compared to the length, is set back from the end of the shank and worked as a pierced work with an H-shaped design, with overlapping cuts, which is clearly visible in backlighting in the photos.
The surface has a dark patina slightly browned from use and time.
By form and workmanship it is datable roughly to the XVII century. The indicated period is an estimate based on form, workmanship and materials.
