Description from the seller

antique manual bread slicer (often referred to as a guillotine bread slicer or rye bread slicer) from the early 20th century (c. 1900–1930). This particular model was made by the renowned German quality brand Alexanderwerk. The device consists of a heavy cast-iron frame with Jugendstil/Art Deco decorations and a wooden feed trough into which the bread or the items to be sliced are placed. By pressing the lever with the large curved blade downward, one could cut very evenly thick or hard breads (such as rye bread or sturdy country bread) and hard cheeses.
