Creil & Montereau - Plate - Hercule et Omphale - Earthenware

Ancient white-and-black monochrome earthenware plate, probably from late 19th-century French productions of the Creil et Montereau manufacture (brands Lebœuf, Milliet et Cie or successors), decorated in a satirical or theatrical spirit (like series inspired by operetta or burlesque scenes). The motif shows a scene with a bearded character crouching or kneeling opposite an elegant female character holding a bottle and a glass.
