Description from the seller
Bronze ring with rounded rectangular bezel – 1st–4th century AD
A bronze ring with a broad rectangular head with rounded corners, joined to solid shoulders that descend into the hoop. The upper face is worn and does not reveal a securely identifiable engraved motif. Dark areas alternate with yellowish deposits, small pits and changes in texture. The design concentrates its volume at the front, maintaining a compact silhouette in profile. The broad front offers a compact geometric outline, with the softened corners preventing a sharply angular appearance. From the sides, the shoulders provide a gradual support for the upper plane rather than a tall, separate mount. Variations in the surface distinguish the flatter face from the more irregular lateral areas. The overall impression is of a substantial ring whose surviving character depends principally on its proportions, its worn contours and the contrast between dark patina and lighter deposits.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.2 x 2.4 cm
Weight: 5.47 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
