AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Bronze ring with raised oval disc – 10th–15th century AD
A bronze ring surmounted by a relatively broad oval disc, raised above the hoop on a short junction. The upper face is uneven, with ochre deposits obscuring any original decoration. The hoop is narrower than the head, emphasising the projecting bezel in profile. Abrasion, small pits and colour variations between brown, green and orange areas are visible. The difference in width between disc and hoop gives the ring a distinctly top-heavy visual balance. Its oval face offers a broad decorative field, although the surviving surface does not permit the original contents of that field to be reconstructed. The junction beneath the head can be appreciated in oblique views, where the disc's edge projects beyond the support. Colour changes and granular deposits interrupt the face and continue onto the simpler band below.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.1 x 2.2 cm
Weight: 4.6 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
